Swallowfield Vineyard Gembrook

A historic old sapphire and tin mining property located in Gembrook (Circa 1901). Around 260m above sea level, surrounded by forest on all sides, strewn with granite and quartz, which protrude like enormous prehistoric boulders in certain areas. Swallowfield is one of the most beautiful vineyards in Australia. It can be cold and unforgiving and walks a tightrope regarding its marginal climate.

2022 Terrason Swallowfield Chardonnay 

Block one I-Clone Chardonnay. Hand-picked and pressed to stainless steel to oxidise the juice before transferring to one-year-old puncheons. Natural fermentation took six months to complete due to a very cold winter. The wine just ticked along over the cooler months and finished fermentation in late spring. Racked by gravity to the tank in preparation for bottling.

REVIEW

From the Swallowfield Vineyard in Gembrook. A natural ferment, which took almost eight months to finish, in 500L puncheons. A full, bright green gold. Discreet and complex with its bouquet of lemon verbena, orange blossom and crushed stone. Medium bodied and compact, this flows evenly across the palate before finishing saline, nutty and long. A quiet and quite lovely wine.
