Domaine Chancelle

Domaine Chancelle is located on the pure limestone soils of Turquant, squeezed between the villages of Chinon and Saumur. The Domaine is made up of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Chenin Blanc. Thierry runs the cellar which is directly under the vines in a limestone cave. Lydie looks after the vines, aiming to grow grapes with as little interference as possible. The domaine’s wines are known for their power and elegance and have a strong following within France. We first tasted their wines at L'Avant Comptoir in Paris and the sommelier suggested we seek them out.

2018 Domaine Chancelle Saumur Blanc

Hand picked, natural ferment in old Foudrés. The wine is classic chenin blanc with the trademark mineral line, white flowers, lemon and pear aromatics. This wine is bone dry and could be cellared for a decade or more.
